Already an accomplished guitarist in his teens, Chris connected with the guitarists Derek Trucks, Jimi Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, whose music inspired him to develop his skills, write songs, and lead a band of his own.
While earning an Applied Music Diploma at Mohawk College, Chris developed a passion for Jazz and Brazilian music. He then went on to complete a Degree in Jazz Performance at the University of Toronto, where he continued to study while also performing with some of the best musicians in the world, such as, Dave Leibman, Norma Winstone, Jerry Bergonzi, Mike Murley, Dave Young, Reg Schwager, Bob Shields, Pat Collins, Kieran Overs, Chase Sanborn, and many others.
Chris is a featured soloist and accompanist on the album Sweet Ruby Suite (feat. Norma Winstone and Dave Liebmen) as part of the University of Toronto Jazz Orchestra, as well as Angela Turone’s debut EP Drift to You.
At this point in time, Chris’ influences include a broad range of genres including Blues, Jazz, and Brazilian music which he bends together in his playing and compositions. This can be heard on his debut instrumental trio album, Sky Glow. Now an emerging artist on the Toronto scene, he is busy performing while continuing to teach and write music.
